What Is LDM (Loading Meter) and How Is It Calculated?
Learn what LDM means, how loading meters are calculated, how LDM differs from CBM and why the LDM Calculator is useful for a first freight estimate.

Short answer: LDM means loading meter, or Lademeter. One LDM represents one metre of trailer floor across the usable internal width. A simple estimate is cargo floor area divided by usable trailer width.
LDM is a floor-space estimate
LDM is useful in road freight for comparing palletised or non-stackable cargo with a vehicle, but it is not the same as CBM and does not prove a physical fit. Try the LDM Calculator for a first estimate, then review the actual vehicle, gaps, orientation, weight, access and delivery sequence.
